Landenberg, PA, January 30, 2018 – Skyland USA today announced that 2017 was another successful year for rooflite, its green roof soil product line. This year the company shipped its high-quality rooflite soil products to a wide geographic area, identified a new “most popular” product because of streamlined product offerings, and brought on new blenders in key regions. Because of this, 2017 was an important year of increasing growth for the 13-year old company.

2017 brought high demand for rooflite soil products for green roof projects across the U.S. and Canada. The company supplied rooflite soil to more than 300 individual green roof projects in 29 states. The most popular project location was New York, a long-time leader in green roof design and development.

Streamlined product offerings last year offered insights into what rooflite soil products customers are choosing. In 2016, rooflite made its products and their associated specifications available in weight classes for the first time. This change allows design professionals to consider weight requirements for a project when making decisions about what rooflite soil product to use. It also makes it easy to specify the rooflite product that matches those weight requirements.

Now that rooflite has offered weight classes for a full year, it is excited to share its most popular product for the first time: rooflite intensive 700. This product has a saturated weight of 70-80 lbs/ft3 and allows for deeper applications, with an average minimum depth of 10 or 12 inches. Through rooflite intensive and its associated soil systems, which are exclusively available from rooflite, designers have more options and flexibility to consider deep applications on green roofs. The trend toward rooftop gardens and planter and container gardens likely played a big role in making rooflite intensive 700 the most popular rooflite soil product in 2017.

rooflite also expanded its blender network with the addition of three official blenders. Blenders are a critical part of the rooflite offering as they help the company bring its proven soil products to new regions and new customers. In 2017, rooflite added blenders in three key regions: Amerigrow in Florida, Green Works Technologies in Mexico, and C Fulton & Sons in Melbourne, Australia.

According to Joe DiNorscia, President of Skyland USA, the success that rooflite had in 2017 demonstrates how integral its products have become to the industry. “We are always striving to innovate and streamline how we do things at rooflite to better serve our customers,” said DiNorscia. “The number of projects we supplied our rooflite soil products for this year, and the popularity of our products across the country is a great indicator that we are doing things right. And we are so happy to have established businesses come on board as blenders to grow our presence in the U.S. and internationally.”

With a successful 2017 in the books, what’s on tap for 2018? rooflite is actively looking to expand its regional blender network in the Americas and Australia to allow more customers to take advantage of its proven products. In addition, it will continue to provide soil solutions to give design professionals the flexibility to achieve their creative vision and provide top-notch customer service for all its clients at project sites all over the world.
